Its always in the eyes...

We had spoken; books and books...
Written poetries,
Complimented, commented and complained,
Through glances, stares and looks,
Not a word spoken,
But eyes living a life of its own,
Mind painting a canvas of its own,
Heart playing a melody of its own,
And vibes conversing in a language of its own,
Why did we speak?
And kill a love so beautiful, that was...
Meandering in our eyes,
In our side stares,
In the tip of our smile,
In the steps counted on our pedometer...
Why did we speak?
And kill those moments in which we lived...

Secret Stares

why do these secret stares
make my heart race?
amidst people, eyes, hand movements, conversations and laughter...
Like a bluetooth
which transfers all that the eyes speak
to the soul
your secret stares do it all

A strange thing called Love

what kind of love is this?
sometimes a friend,
sometimes a lover,
sometimes even as a mother, a sister, a brother, a father,
sometimes even your mirror, your bed, your cupboard
your keys
and even your dirty linen shirt
what kind of love is this?
where there is no kind at all....
all encompassing...
into a strange thing called Love

Million Dollar Smile

Sometimes you see smiles
the ones that say something,
the ones that tell you a story,
and you are that smile...
that beholds
and then gives something away,
with that non existent top lip of yours
that hides a million secrets
in its corners
and when they stretch to smile
you want to stare at it for eons
like you do at a starry night...

Be-ware of Waffles

A Belgian waffle,
grilled and sugar-coated,
one between us,
melted chocolate...
melting heart
melted away many memories...

Candle Light Dinner

It was quiet...
and then quite evident,
when spoons and forks;
made the conversation
amidst the candle...

My Chamomile Tea

In the tea break;
between the cup and the lip,
between the simmering;
and the boiling,
between the aroma,
and some steam
In between and within ,
You run on my mind;
till the last sip

and it’s after taste...

Outgrowing

At first,
it was your presence in your absence that was felt
Now,
I can feel the absence in your presence...

Let it remain untitled

Words are defense mechanism,

Such that;

They come to combat

Silence within;

To win a war

And create what they call a poem

In Bruges, In Brussels

A part of me is still there

And will be;

Where I traveled

Cycling

And walking

On the cobbled roads

Weaving imaginations

With the real

On a moonlit night

With open tresses,

Dancing along the wind,

With bated breath

And eyes closed

I could see the city

And walk on its history

Back and forth in time

With you

Before sunrise…

A rickshaw ride

Trrr… Trrr..
The yellow rickshaw goes
On an Indian road
That is noisy yet silent
Amidst the honking horns
swaying leaves
and a habitual hurry
every where
Trrr...Trrr…
As it goes
A cool breeze hits
And strands of hair flutter
iPod melodies sing along
Abstract swirls
Splash the unconscious
Rolling numbers on the meter
Distill the consciousness
The red light of the traffic signal
Catches your attention
Trr…trrr…stops
The driver spits
A fury of red splatters
The strong aroma of paan
Fills the air
Men on bikes
peep, bend, stare
To get a glimpse of you
You look away
Shuffle
Notice the half bitten apple
As you feel the glossy silver of your pod
You smile
Take a silent sideway look
At the men
You stare back
“%^#$%%&”
Green
Trrr…trr…
The rickshaw goes again
Along the bumpy roads
Stops.
Rs. 93
Meter was fast
Cheater
“$##%&%”
Whatever!

And sometimes...

Flying strands of hair,
Compete with,
The curtains dancing,
In the whoosh whoosh air.
Silence within,
Tells a tale.

Some Haikus

Theme: Reminiscence

This butterfly clip,
That I tucked in her moist hair,
Now pricks, blood oozing...

Twinkle of her eye,
Auburn hair, I tucked behind,
Pleasant reveries...

A pitter patter,
Of rain drops, fall on my face,
And tears mingle in it...

Under the banyan,
Closed eyes, she said her prayers,
I stared, still staring…

Sweaty hands rubbed on,
Her embroidered handkerchief,
Still smells just the same…

The Circumference-d woman Part IV

I don’t see the same spot
No more I am there
Yet the moment lives
Everyday
With sepia reminiscences
And orange sunsets
And amidst honking horns
A silence creeps
Banters recollected
Bitter curt replies
And sweet nothings
Some forgotten flashes
And some revivals
And a new beginning
Of a suspended knot
Lost and gained
And gained and lost
But always will stay
In mind’s eye
That acknowledging wink…

I knew and I always did

A pinch of truth
present always is,
in apocryphal stories,
narrated smilingly,
with a pounding heart,
and eyebrows raised...

Time and Money

Time and money
Symbolic icons of irony
Of life
Of the post modern
Cult upbeat times

Chase one
And lose the other
And misplaced in the quagmire
Is a self
Who has lost,

A few badinages
And a small breathe of life…

Stocks in all sizes

I stand still,
Still to stare,

Latest trend,
Better quality,
Brand name,
New and attractive,
In window display...

Souls sell
Somebody to someone…

The Circumference-d woman - Part III

I see the same spot
Sitting at the same place
Amidst stacked books
The 6’o clock siren rings
It still hasn’t registered
He passes with one
On the same road
That I keep staring at
Through the window pane
I juggle between
A moist heart and my new resolution
And now I am successful at
Tactfully changing the topic
Messy table,
A painkiller strip,
Workaholic me
And last assignment to go,
Silence and I smile
Coz I have lost
And I gain to lose
That acknowledging wink…

The circumference-d woman Part II

I sit at the same place,
The light gleams
And darkness outside, I see
Through the moist glass
Have I gained or have I lost?
My gaze still intact,
Not on the road,
But just opposite…
Silence,
Yet again; grew deeper
The soft board is empty today,
No new arrivals,
The newspaper folds are untouched
Books containing secrets lie
neatly arranged on the shelf
OK.
No subject change.
You are here;
right besides
And I am waiting
For that acknowledging wink…
